House Rules
The following are the simple house rules here at the Ottawa Tennis & Lawn Bowling Club.
Attire and Footwear
- Players must always wear proper footwear for the court surface. Proper footwear constitutes soft-soled tennis shoes, that do not have excessive tread and will not mark the Har-Tru clay courts. Running shoes or cross-traininers are not acceptable footwear.
- Appropriate tennis attire, white or coloured, should be worn at all times when playing on the courts. Jogging shorts, men's tank tops, lady's aerobic tops and spandex are not considered appropriate attire.
If in doubt about attire or footwear, please ask the front desk before playing.
Court booking
- Membership cards are presented to each member at the beginning of their season. Members are required to show their card each time they come to the club: whether they wish to book a court, lawn bowl or go swimming.
- Tennis courts are booked for 40 minute periods. All bookings (except for advance bookings) must be done in person at the Front Desk on a first come, first served basis. Bookings can be made up to 90 minutes before the desired court time. Members cannot book a court on a drop in basis immediately prior to their pre-booked court period or they lose the advanced booked period.
- Two players must be present at the Front Desk when booking for singles.
- For doubles games, three players must be present at the Front Desk to book. The fourth player is required to be present no later than five minutes before court time.
- Double Booking, the booking of one court while you are still booked for another period, is not allowed. Double booking will not be tolerated and repeat offenders will have their playing privileges revoked.
- Advance Booking: Three courts (1 single and 2 doubles) are available to be booked in advance, by phone (613-730-7207) or in person up to two days in advance. Advance booking is not available on Saturdays, Sundays or holidays.
