Courts 5-12 Reconstruction. Revised Court Procedure Based on Feedback at AGM
Fellow OTLBC Members:
As mentioned several times this season, your Board of Directors has approved major capital spending to invest in the future of this Club, particularly with regard to tennis court renovations.
When is it Happening?
Commencing September 18th to Club closing on October 9th, we will be completely rebuilding courts 5 through 12. This major renovation requires fair weather and the week of September 18th is the latest the job can commence with high probability of completion before next season.
What’s the Scope and Long Term Benefit?
The work involves excavating and removing the existing Har-tru surface; laser grading; laying down new Har-Tru surface; and installing new net posts, a drainage system plus an automated in-ground irrigation system.
Next year, you will notice a better playing surface and the courts will recover much faster after a heavy rain. Consider this as short-term pain for long-term gain!
What’s the Impact this Year?
There will be some impact on members due the reduced number of courts (from 18 to 10, with only 4 courts lit in the evening. To accommodate this special circumstance:
- We will allow advance booking Monday through Friday for all remaining lit courts (13 through 16) during the evening period (6:00 p.m. to Close) from the day the construction commences until the end of the season. For advanced booking guidelines during the construction period, please see the attached appendix.
- Certain regular tennis activities will continue during non-peak periods – this includes daytime round-robins (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays at 9:00 a.m. and Sundays at 11:00 a.m.) and Thursday (8:00 p.m.), Friday (7:20 p.m.) and Sunday (7:20 p.m.) round-robins. There will no organized activities such as NCTA inter-club during the peak periods of Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings commencing the week of September 18th.
Thanks to all members for your cooperation during this period to ensure that as many as possible can enjoy the use of Club facilities until Thanksgiving 2006.
